In Years 11 and 12, students are prepared for the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC). The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) requires all students to study at least four different subjects totalling a minimum of 12 Units in Year 11 and 10 Units in Year 12 including 2 units of English.

Senior Study Agreement & Permission to Drive Form
Depending on the subjects selected, senior students may have a timetable that has time slots without classes. These are study periods and could be a single lesson or a double lesson.
Year 12 students are expected to be responsible for their study, attendance and progress. The 2021 Senior Study Agreement is designed to allow senior students flexibility to be able to balance school, work and extracurricular activities in a way, which best suits each individual. It allows students the opportunity to learn to manage time and work towards successfully completing the Preliminary Certificate with the support of Student Advisors and teachers.
The Senior Study Agreement is a ‘contract’ between GIHS, the senior student and parents/carers. The Senior Student Agreement has rules and conditions and the students can forfeit the Agreement if they do not follow the rules and procedures detailed.
Once the Senior Study Agreement is signed by the student and their parent/carer and returned to the office, a student will then be able to have flexible attendance.
The Permission to Drive form is attached to the Senior Study Agreement and is also to be returned to the office.
